Covid-19 updates: Coronavirus cases in India rise to 315, confirms ICMR

Officials in Gujarat told PTI that another person has tested positive for coronavirus taking the statewide affected number to 8.

Maharashtra health minister Rajesh Tope said the state has seen an increase of 11 cases with in a day. He also added that 8 persons with travel history have been infected and 3 people got infected after being in contact with them.

ICMR has revised its covid-19 testing strategy to curb the outbreak from affecting more people. Now all hospitalized patients with severe acute respiratory illness, breathing difficulties (shortness), cough and fever will be tested. Asymptomatic individuals who are direct and high-risk contacts will now be tested once between day 5 and day 14 of coming in his/her contact.

Noida has reported one more case of coronavirus in the state. The district magistrate on Saturday told PTI that one more person has tested positive for covid-19. 5 people are affected in total from Noida.

22 people in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have coronavirus as four fresh cases were reported on Friday evening. An official bulletin released by the Telangana government said two male Indonesians, aged 27 and 60, who arrived in Karimnagar from Delhi have tested positive for covid-19. A fifty-year-old man with travel history to Saudi Arabia has also tested positive for covid-19 in Vishakhapatnam.

Health officials in Punjab and Maharashtra have confirmed rise is coronavirus cases in their states. Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan told PTI that 3 more people have tested positive in Mohali. Officials in Maharashtra have also reported a rise in coronavirus cases in the state. An official told PTI that eleven more cases were detected since Friday evening, which brings the statewide affected number to 63.

Singapore has reported its first fatalities due to coronavirus. A 75-year-old Singaporean woman and a 64-year-old Indonesian man died on Saturday morning. The city-state has reported 385 cases of coronavirus.

Health officials in Rajasthan have reported six new cases of coronavirus in the state, according to PTI.

A 38 per cent drop has been reported in global smartphone shipments when tallied against the amount of shipments reported around the same time last year, according to report by AFP.

As coronavirus cases rise across the city, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has decided to discharge all 'stable' patients from municipal hospital according to directive accessed by PTI. The directive said, "All stable patients admitted in the specialty units and not requiring tertiary care to be discharged with immediate effect."

A resident of North 24 Parganas district has been detected with covid-19. She had recently returned from Scotland. West Bengal has three cases of coronavirus.

As panic grows around coronavirus cases, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi published a 20 page booklet to ease anxiety around the new viral disease covid-19.
