AirAsia cuts staff salaries by up to 20 pc for April: Report
AirAsia India has cut the April salary of its staff by up to 20 per cent to tackle the airline’s finances amid the suspension of all commercial services till May 3 due to the lockdown, a source has said, reports news agency PTI.
Those drawing ₹50,000 per month or less have been spared from the wage cut.
The Bengaluru-headquartered budget carrier is the latest to join the other domestic airlines such as IndiGo, SpiceJet and Vistara, who have already taken similar measures to cut fixed cost amid grounding of their fleet.
Russian coronavirus cases surpass 47,000
Russia reported 4,268 new confirmed coronavirus cases on Monday, fewer than 6,060 on the previous day, which took the total number of cases to 47,121, reports Reuters.
Forty-four Russian coronavirus patients died in the last 24 hours, the Russian coronavirus crisis response center said.
China says India's new FDI rules violate WTO principles, hopes for revision
India's new rules for foreign investment violate WTO principles of non-discrimination and are against free and fair trade, a Chinese embassy spokesperson in New Delhi said on Monday, reports Reuters.
"The impact of the policy on Chinese investors is clear," spokesperson of the Chinese embassy Ji Rong said in a statement.
New Delhi had, in a notification on April 17, said the changes to federal rules on investment were meant to curb "opportunistic takeovers/acquisitions". It did not mention China.

Barber shops won't be opened, dining at restaurants won't be allowed.
State chief secretary Tom Jose said the Centre did not seek an explanation from the state.
Coronavirus threatens to trigger new round of global food crisis: China official
The global coronavirus pandemic threatens to cause a huge shock to international food trade and trigger a new food crisis, a top agriculture official in China said on Monday, reports Reuters.
The comments came as coronavirus outbreaks roiled global agriculture supply chains and upended trade, and after some countries restricted exports of main grains and increased procurement for reserves.
"The fast spreading global epidemic has brought huge uncertainty on international agriculture trade and markets," said Yu Kangzhen, China's deputy agriculture minister.
"If the epidemic continues to spread and escalate, the impact on international food trade and production will definitely worsen, and might trigger a new round of food crisis," Yu said during a video conference on the country's agriculture outlook.
3 more Covid-19 deaths in Indore district, total infections rise to 897
Three more persons died of coronavirus in Madhya Pradesh's Indore district in the last 24 hours, taking the toll in the Madhya Pradesh district to 52, an official said on Monday, reports PTI.
The deceased included two men and a woman, in the age group of 42 to 47 years, Chief Medical and Health Officer Praveen Jadia said.
Besides, seven more people tested positive for COVID- 19 here, taking the total number of such cases in the district to 897, he said.

The Parliament Secretariat has started working from today. Rajya Sabha staff was seen waiting for elevators at the secretariat, while standing in marked circles.
The secretariat was shut on March 24 in the wake of Covidd-19 outbreak.

Spike in child porn consumption during lockdown period: Maharashtra home minister
Maharashtra's home minister has said that spike in child porn consumption during the lockdown period shows the huge presence of paedophiles, child rapists & child pornography addicts online, reports ANI.
He added, "We're taking urgent steps to tighten stringency to prevent a drastic rise in sexual crimes against children."
He told the news agency, "The cybercrime department of the Maharashtra police registered 133 cases and arrested 46 people under IPC Section. 292 (prurient creation of lascivious images), Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act and the IT Act during the lockdown,"
