Coronavirus deaths in India on Thursday climbed to 53, while the number of positive cases crossed 2,000. Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that he will share a video message with people at 9am tomorrow. It is expected that it will be centered around the coronavirus pandemic that made the PM declare a 21-day nationwide lockdown. More than a million people have been infected by Covid-19 and the global death toll has crossed 50,000.

21 new Covid-19 cases in Andhra
Andhra Pradesh reports 21 more Covid-19 cases, taking the total number of positive cases in the state to 132: Arja Srikanth, State Nodal Officer : ANI
1764 active cases of Covid-19 in India so far
Of the 1,965 cases reported so far in India,there have been 50 deaths due to the disease, 1,764 are active cases, 150 have been cured and / or discharged and one patient migrated.
The health ministry said 131 new Covid-19 cases have been added in the country in the last 12 hours.

Haryana records 1st Covid-19 death
Haryana has recorded its first Covid-19-related death, reports news agency PTI. The agency, quoting a senior health department official, said that a 67-year-old man from Ambala died at the PGIMER , Chandigarh soon after testing positive for coronavirus.
52-yr-old Covid-19 patient dies in Vadodara: Report
A 52-year-old Covid-19 patient lost his life on Thursday morning, reports ANI quoting S Agarwal, Vadodara Collector. He had a history of travel to Sri Lanka and was admitted to SSG Hospital, Vadodara on 19 March. Four members of his family have also tested positive for the virus&are undergoing treatment.

Indian Navy designs & develops its own handheld infra-red based temp sensor
Indian Navy's Naval Dockyard in Mumbai has designed and developed its own handheld infrared-based temperature sensor for screening a large number of personnel at the entry gates of the yard. This will reduce the load on the security sentries at the gate. The instrument has been manufactured under Rs. 1000, through in-house resources (which is a fraction of the cost of the temperature guns in the market),the navy said: ANI

Manipur has reported one more Covid-19 positive case, that of a person who attended Tablighi Jamaat congregation at Nizamuddin Markaz, chief minister N Biren Singh said. US begins repatriating its citizens from India
The US has begun repatriation efforts for its citizens who have been stranded in India due to the 21-day national lockdown. Principal deputy assistant secretary for consular affairs, Ian G Brownlee, told reporters in Washington that a flight brought some 170-some U.S. citizens back home on Tuesday.

Singapore reports fourth death due to coronavirus
Singapore on Thursday reported its fouth death from Covid-19, news agency PTI said quoting the country's health ministry.
A day earlier, 74 new coronavirus infections, including seven Indian nationals, were confirmed in the country. The total number of infections in Singapore till now is 1,000.
Former Hazoori Ragi of Golden Temple, Giani Nirmal Singh, man dies of Covid-19: Official
Giani Nirmal Singh, former Hazoori Ragi of Golden Temple in Amritsar, who had tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday, died away at around 4:30 AM on Thursday, said KBS Sidhu, Special Chief Secretary, Punjab Disaster Management (COVID-19). The 67-year-old was a Padma Shri awardee.
The death toll due to Covid-19 in Punjab has now reached six.
