With months into the pandemic, the Covid-19 continues to wreak havoc around the world. While the race for developing Covid-19 vaccine is on, the virus has infected more than 28.6 million people while the death toll stood at 918,796, according to the figures published on John Hopkins University's site.
In India, the number of daily cases continues to remain more than 90 thousand. On Saturday the tally was pushed beyond the 47 lakh-mark, as the country recorded 94,372 in the last 24 hours. While the death toll stood at 78, 586 after 1,114 fresh fatalities.

Almost Half in Virginia Prison Infected with Covid-19
Almost half the prisoners in a Virginia correctional facility are infected with Covid-19, the facility said Saturday. Two died on Saturday, for a total of six fatalities in the Deerfield Correctional Center, the worst hit in the state.
The prison -- which houses many old and ill inmates -- has a total of 407 cases out of a total population of about 925.
The statement said the entire correctional system has tested extensively and has found many asymptomatic cases and intervened to prevent the virus from spreading further.
Steep rise in India's Covid-19 recoveries
India's Covid-19 recoveries have witnessed a steep exponential rise - from 50,000 in May to over 36 lakhs in September. A high level of more than 70,000 recoveries reported every day. Recoveries are nearly 3.8 times the Active Cases (under 1/4 total cases), says union ministry of health.
Brazil records over 33,500 new Covid-19 cases in 24 hours
Brazil confirmed 33,523 new coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours and more than 800 new deaths from Covid-19 were registered in that period, the country's Health Ministry said.
Brazil's total number of confirmed coronavirus cases now stands at 4,315,687. In the past 24 hours, 814 new coronavirus-related deaths were confirmed in Brazil with the total death toll now standing at 131,210, the ministry said on Saturday.
