US records most number of cases in last two months
Countries across Europe are seeing a resurgence of Covid-19. England, Germany, Portugal and Italy have seen a record surge in cases. Germany, once lauded for its handling of the pandemic, has recorded its highest number of cases this week than it ever did during the first seven months of the pandemic. As temperatures dip across the US, the country which remains the worst-affected by Covid-19, recorded most daily infections in two months taking the tally to 8 million.
Union health minister Harsh Vardhan asked Indians to exercise caution ahead of the festive and winter season. India’s daily number of cases have dipped but concerns remain regarding fresh outbreaks that could fuel a second wave of Covid-19. Kerala, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan cases and deaths remain a concern for the authorities as these states continue to show an uptick in cases.

Austria records 2,317 new cases of Covid-19
Austria recorded its highest-ever tally since the outbreak began with 2,317 fresh cases.
Odisha single-day Covid-19 case tally reaches 2,196
Close to 2,200 fresh cases pushed Odisha's tally to 2,66,345 cases in last 24 hours. The state has recorded 1,121 deaths so far.

Melbourne records only 1 new Covid-19 case
Australia’s Victoria state reported 1 case and zero deaths which means Melbourne can relax some of its strict lifestyle restrictions. Melbourne and Victoria account for over 90% of Covid-19 deaths recorded in Australia.
Qingdao has no Covid-19 cases after mass testing
The Chinese city of Qingdao which recently achieved the feat of testing 11 million people have found no new cases of Covid-19. Xue Qingguo, the deputy mayor of the city said that risk of community transmission "is basically eliminated".
India records 62,212 new cases
India has recorded 62,212 fresh coronavirus cases and 837 deaths in the last 24 hours.
Germany records another rise in Covid-19 cases
The number of Covid-19 cases across Germany has now risen to 348,557 according to data from Robert Koch Institute (RKI) accessed by Reuters. 33 people died in the last 24 hours.
Singapore's active cases fall to lowest level in seven months
Singapore has not recorded no new local infections for the first time since February. Singapore currently has 89 active cases.
Coronavirus fails to dent Chinese economy
An AFP poll highlighted that China - where the coronavirus disease outbreak first occurred - has shown pacy economic recovery. Growth between July-September is projected to be close to 5.2%, bringing it closer to 6.1% annual expansion. IMF also says that China is the only economy which is likely to expand this year.
US records most number of cases in last two months
As temperatures fell across the country the total number of cases topped 8 million across US. Texas recorded more than 5,600 new cases in the past 24 hours.
