Covid-19 Highlights: France registers big slump in deaths in last 24 hours

Big fall in COVID-19 deaths in France in last 24 hours, reports news agency AFP quoting health officials.

Sri Lanka reversed plans to end its virus lockdown on Monday, extending it for another week after a spike in coronavirus infections led to a recall of military personnel on leave.

Within hours of announcing on Saturday that the nationwide restrictions imposed on March 20 would be lifted, the government revoked the order and extended them to May 4.

Army chief Shavendra Silva said on behalf of the army, navy and air force that the leave of all military personnel was cancelled.

Coronavirus cases in West Bengal have gone up to 461, and the death toll has touched 20, according to West Bengal Health Department.

"During the Covid-19 outbreak, use as much indigenous goods as possible and try to live without using imported items," RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat appealed to people.

"India handled Covid-19 pandemic effectively as government and people responded proactively to this crisis," said RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat.

Forty cases of coronavirus have been reported in Himachal Pradesh. Out of this, 13 are active cases. The state has reported one death till date, said Himachal Pradesh Health Department.

Coronavirus cases in India have gone up to 26,917, and 826 people have lost their lives due to the virus, according to health ministry.

"When people were bound by some rules and guidelines, they felt that they are being prohibited from doing things. RSS made a decision in March itself and cancelled all its programs till June-end. But some people might feel that govt is prohibiting our programmes," said RSS chief M Bhagwat.

Four fresh cases of coronavirus were reported in Bihar. The total number of cases in the state has gone to up 259 now.

31 journalists have been discharged today after their second Covid-19 report came negative. All have been advised for 14 days home quarantine: Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
