Shutdowns continue in major cities of the world as governments try to contain the Covid-19 contagion. On Saurday, during his video call with chief ministers of different states, PM Narendra Modi said the next 3-4 weeks are critical to determine impact of steps taken to curb the coronavirus spread.
Whereas CMs sought financial package and extension in lockdown, says Puducherry CM V Narayanasamy after meeting with PM, according to PTI.
After the video call, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal announced that the lockdown in the state will continue till April 30 to prevent Covid-19 spread. Delhi has become the third state after Punjab and Odisha to extend the lockdown.

Gilead's Remdesivir could be Covid-19 gamechanger
An analysis published in New England Journal of Medicine says Remdesivir has helped two-thirds of patients recover from coronavirus. The analysis had patients from United States, Europe, Canada and Japan.

110 passengers from Uruguay and Australia have alighted from the Greg Mortimer. The Uruguayan and Australian governments arranged a medically equipped Airbus A350 plane to take them to Melbourne. Australia's Foreign Minister Marise Payne and Uruguayan counterpart Ernesto Talvi exchanged greetings.

CDC puts out 'no sail order' for all-cruise ships
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has now extended its no-sail order to cruise ships. These ships will have to cease operations for more than 3 months.

Congo faces Ebola scare amid coronavirus pandemic
The Democratic Republic of Congo could not have it much worse. A man in his mid-20s has died due to Ebola. War-torn Congo is also trying to fend off a measles epidemic, and was planning to declare an end to Ebola which has so far killed 2,200. Coronavirus cases in the nation rose to 215 and 20 people have died so far.

Mahroof, a resident from Mahe, who was on ventilator for the last two days died due to Covid-19. The septuagenarian breathed his last at Pariyarram Medical College in Kannur on Saturday.
