After recording over 80,000 cases for the past few days, India on Tuesday registered 70,589 cases and 776 deaths due to the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) disease which pushed the overall over 6.1 million, according to the Union health ministry's dashboard. The total cases include 947,576 active cases, over 5.1 million recoveries and 96,318 deaths.
During a joint-press briefing of the health ministry and Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) this afternoon, ICMR’s second Sero Survey report showed that a considerable population still vulnerable to Covid-19. ICMR DG Balram Bhargava added in light of the upcoming festivities, winter season and mass gathering, inventive containment strategies need to be implemented by the states.

A preliminary study conducted by South Korea showed that nine in ten Covid-19 patients after recovery experienced side effects such as fatigue, lost of smell and taste. This study comes after the global death toll crossed the one million mark on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, United States continues to be worst-hit nation from the pandemic and has registered over 7.1 million Covid-19 cases and nearly 205,000 deaths till now. Since a large portion of the population is yet susceptible, prevention fatigue is to be avoided and 5T strategy (Test, Track, Trace, Treat & Technology) is to be adhered to, Balram Bhargava ICMR DG said, reports ANI.
