As per the Union health ministry's dashboard, India on Wednesday logged 90,123 new cases and 1,290 more deaths due to the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) disease. The active cases stand at 995,933 whereas over 3.9 million have recovered so far.

Meanwhile,The two indigenous vaccine candidates have completed Phase 1 human trials, and their developers have recruited subjects for Phase 2 trials, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) director general Dr Balram Bhargava said.

100-year-old woman defeats coronavirus in Assam
A 100-year-old woman Mai Handique has defeated coronavirus in Guwahati.
She lives in Mothers Old Age Home in the Hatigaon area of Guwahati. State health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma lauded the "steely resolve" of the women and efforts of doctors who treated her at Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital (MMCH) in the city, reports ANI.
Pune records 4,656 new Covid-19 cases, 74 more deaths
Pune district reported 4,656 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, taking its count to 2,35,852 on Wednesday, a health official said. Also, 1,883 patients were discharged from hospitals following their recovery from the disease, the official said, reports PTI.

Pandemic "hero" Filipino nurses struggle to leave home
"Priso-nurses" from across the Philippines gathered on video meeting platform Zoom to pray to be allowed to leave.
They prayed to be allowed to take up nursing jobs in countries where the coronavirus is killing thousands in hospitals and care homes. In recent months, these care workers have taken to calling themselves "priso-nurses."
