Highlights: 250 fresh cases push Meghalaya’s Covid-19 tally to nearly 3,500

Five more people died due to Covid-19 in Meghalaya, raising the toll in the northeastern state to 24, a senior official said on Friday. At least 250 people tested positive for the disease since Thursday, which pushed the tally to 3,447, he said, reports PTI.

As many as 29 people tested positive for Covid-19 in Andaman and Nicobar, pushing the total number of cases to 3,494 which includes 286 active cases, 51 deaths, reports ANI.

A total of 9,999 new COVID-19 cases and 77 deaths were reported in Andhra Pradesh on Friday. The state's count of coronavirus cases has gone up to 547,686, reports ANI.

The number of Covid-19 tests conducted so far has crossed the 20 lakh-mark in the national capital which has witnessed a surge in coronavirus cases, according to Delhi government's health bulletin, reports PTI.

Greece's death toll from the novel coronavirus hit 300 on Friday, the state health agency said, as the total number of infections topped 12,700, reports AFP.

The number of new confirmed coronavirus cases spiked Friday in parts of eastern Europe, with Hungary and the Czech Republic registering all-time daily highs, reports AP.

Jammu and Kashmir reported 1,578 new Covid-19 cases, taking the tally to 50,712 on Friday, while nine more deaths in the last 24 hours pushed the union territory's death toll to 854, officials said. Of the fresh Covid-19 cases, 808 were detected in Jammu region and 770 in the Kashmir valley, the added, , reports PTI.

As many as 4,266 people tested positive for Covid-19 in Delhi, taking the national capital's tally to 209,748 which includes 26,907 active cases, 178,154 recoveries/discharges and 4,687 deaths, the Delhi government said, reports ANI.

West Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh has claimed that the Covid-19 pandemic is over but chief minister Mamata Banerjee is imposing lockdown and other restrictions in West Bengal only to stop BJP from organising public meetings before the assembly polls due next year. The TMC mocked Ghosh's remarks and asked him to visit a doctor, reports PTI.

As many as 109 people tested positive for Covid-19 in Manipur, taking the total number of cases in the state to 7,579 which includes 1,533 active cases, over 6,000 recoveries and 44 deaths, reports ANI.

Union minister of State for Railways, Suresh Angadi tested positive for the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) on Friday. Through a tweet, he requested all those who came in contact with him to get tested in case of any symptoms.
