Arunachal Pradesh reports 100 new Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) on Tuesday said that more than 4.33 crore samples have been tested for the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) disease so far out of which 10,16, 920 samples were tested on Monday.

According to the union health ministry’s dashboard, India on Tuesday logged 69,921 new cases, 819 deaths due to the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak, which has taken the overall tally to nearly 3.7 million. The total cases include 785,996 active cases, over 2.83 million recoveries and 65,288 deaths.

India on Sunday registered 78,761 cases, the highest ever across the globe. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said that over 4.33 crore samples have been tested for Covid-19 so far out of which 10,16, 920 samples were tested on Monday.

India’s GDP contracted by almost 24% in from April-June in 2020 as compared to 2019. This indicates that the Covid-19 lockdown during the initial months took a severe toll on economic activity. India observed a hard lockdown during the initial months of the outbreak in April and May. According to experts, lockdown was not a problem but what made matters worse was the way in which it was implemented.

India stands as the third worst-affected nation from the Covid-19 pandemic. The United States, which is the worst affected topped six million cases on Monday, adding a million infections in three weeks. The country had recorded its five millionth case on August 9, which was just 17 days after it hit four million.

5,571 fresh cases push UP tally to 2,35,757

Fifty-six more people died of coronavirus in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, raising the toll to 3,542, while 5,571 fresh cases pushed the state’s infection count to 2,35,757, an official said.
