India’s Covid-19 tally on Friday crossed 6.9 million after 70,496 cases and 964 deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours, according to the data provided by the Union health ministry. The total cases include 893,592 active cases, over 5.9 million recoveries and 106,490 deaths.
Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi continue to be some of the worst-affected states. Delhi has logged nearly 301,000 Covid-19 cases so far and the death toll stands at 5,653.

The Delhi Administration on Thursday chose to stop putting posters at the residences of those who have been infected with Covid-19 and are under home isolation. As per a health bulletin, officials have been asked to remove such posters from the residences of almost 13,000 people that are under home isolation.
Meanwhile the Israeli government, which has been criticized for its handling of the pandemic, has extended an emergency provision that bars public gatherings which includes protests against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for an additional week. Thousands of Israelis have participated in weekly protests outside Netanyahu’s official residence in Jerusalem for months.

Upto 7,000 pilgrims now allowed at Vaishno Devi
The Secretary to J-K government Simrandeep Singh said that the limit of pilgrims travelling to Vaishno Devi has now been increased from 5000 to 7000. He said the CEO of the shrine board will take a call later on how many of these pilgrims allowed can be from the union territory and how many from outside J-K.

Covid-19 testing not required for movement within J-K: Secretary to J-K govt
Secretary to the J-K govt Simrandeep Singh said on Friday that since all zones are orange people belonging to the union territories of Jammu and Kashmir will not have to undergo Covid-19 testing. People travelling to J-K from other places outside the union territories have to undergo Covid-19 test.
Earlier, testing was compulsory for people travelling from Red to Orange zones in the UT. Now all zones are Orange, so movement within the UT is free, no testing required. Goa CM Pramod Sawant said that starting October 13, the state government will bring in AYUSH doctors to help treat Covid-19 patients.

Authorities in Moscow are considering closing bars and nightclubs to halt a second Covid-19 wave as the number of new daily cases surged on Friday to the highest it has been since the outbreak began. The country logged 12,126 new cases, pushing the tally to 1,272,238. The previous record daily rise was 11,656 cases on May 11, when strict lockdown measures were in force across most parts of the country, reports Reuters.

Thane's Covid-19 tally on Friday jumped to 187,313 after 1,514 new cases were added, a district official said. With a total of 4,734 fatalities, the death rate in the district stands at 2.53 per cent, while the recovery rate is 88.67 per cent, he added, reports PTI.

2,697 fresh cases push Odisha’s Covid-19 tally to nearly 247,000
Odisha has registered 2,697 new Covid-19 cases and 3,312 recoveries till Thursday, the state's health department said. The total number of cases have climbed to 246,839, including 216,984 recoveries and 28,811 active cases, it added, reports ANI.
