India records 37,975 new Covid-19 cases, 480 deaths
India’s Covid-19 tally on Tuesday reached 9,177,840 after 37,975 cases and 480 deaths were registered in the last 24 hours, according to the Union health ministry’s dashboard. The total cases now include 438,667 active cases, over 8.6 million recoveries and 134,218 deaths.
The active cases continued to remain below 5 per cent of the total caseload. Delhi, Maharashtra and Kerala have been contributing the maximum towards the daily coronavirus tally.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a meeting with chief ministers of seven states as well as the CM of Union territory of Delhi to review the Covid-19 situation in the respective areas and the steps taken to curb the spread.

Haryana, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh were some of the states that participated in the interaction. Delhi, meanwhile, was the sole UT representative.
Meanwhile, the United States which continues to be worst affected from the pandemic hopes to commence vaccinations by early December, a top government health official said, according to news agency AFP. Vaccines by Pfizer and Moderna have been shown to be 95 per cent effective in trials, with Pfizer already applying for emergency use approval from the country’s health authorities.
