On Thursday, India’s Covid-19 tally climbed to 8,683,916 after 47,905 fresh cases and 550 more related deaths were registered in the last 24 hours. The total cases include 128,121 deaths, 489,294 active cases and over 8 million recoveries, according to the Union health ministry’s dashboard.
The total active cases remained below the 500,000-mark for the second consecutive day and they constitute 5.73 per cent of the total caseload.
Union health minister Dr Harsh Vardhan through video conferencing urged seven states- Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura Meghalaya and Goa to focus on effective management of coronavirus cases in order to reduce deaths in the first 24, 48 or 72 hours. The chief ministers and health ministers of these states briefed Vardhan on the containment, surveillance and treatment of Covid-19 cases.

Meanwhile, the global Covid-19 tally has now climbed to 52,416,368 out of which over 1.28 million people have died. The death toll in UK on Wednesday night crossed the 50,000-mark, which is the highest in Europe. The UK is now the fifth country in the world to register over 50,000 deaths after United States, India , Brazil and Mexico.

In highest ever spike in daily number of deaths, Delhi recorded 107 deaths due to Covid-19 on Thursday, pushing the death toll to 7,332. While the number f daily infection was at 7,053.

Jharkhand detected more than 260 cases of infections in the last 24-hours. The total caseload has reached 1,05,493 including 1,00,908 recoveries/discharges, 917 deaths and 3,668 active cases.

Tamil Nadu logged 2,112 new Covid-19 cases, 2,347 discharges, and 25 deaths today. Total positive cases in the State rise to 7,52,521 including 7,22,686 discharges and 11,440 deaths. Active cases stand at 18,395.
Telangana logs 1,015 new Covid-19 cases, 3 deaths
Telangana reported 1,015 fresh coronavirus cases taking the tally to 2.54 lakh while three fatalities pushed the toll to 1,393.

Karnataka reports 2,116 new Covid-19 cases, 3,368 discharges and 21 deaths.
Total positive cases in the state have now risen to 8,55,912 including 8,14,949 discharges and 11,474 deaths. Active cases stand at 29,470.
Iran passes grim milestone of 40,000 Covid-19 deaths
Iran on Thursday reported 457 fresh fatalities due to the Covis-19. The latest addition pushed the country's death toll to 40,000. While the caseload has reached 726,000.
Uttar Pradesh Covid-19 tally surges tops 5 lakh
Twenty-one more coronavirus-related fatalities were reported in Uttar Pradesh, taking the death toll to 7,302 on Thursday, while 2,278 fresh cases pushed the infection tally to 5,05,426, according to a health bulletin.
At present, there are 22,949 active cases, while a total of 4,75,175 patients have recovered from the disease so far.

The Covid-19 caseload in Maharashtra's Thane district reached 2,17,465, after 571 persons tested positive for the infection, an official said on Thursday.

The Delhi High Court on Thursday vacated the stay imposed by the single judge on the reservation of 80% ICU beds in 33 private hospitals in the national capital.
"In view of the present situation and the spiralling situation that has radically changed in the last three months, the order of sep 22, passed by the single judge is vacated, " the court said.
