India’s Covid-19 tally crossed 1.1 lakh on Thursday with 5,609 new cases getting detected in the last 24 hours. This is the second-biggest single-day spike in the number of Covid-19 cases in the country. According to the Union health ministry update, the total number of cases in the country are 1,12,359. Out of these, the number of active cases are 63,624, those recovered are 45,299. Countries across the globe are easing restrictions which were imposed due to the coronavirus outbreak. Malaysia reports 50 new coronavirus cases with no new deaths
Malaysian health authorities on Thursday reported 50 new coronavirus cases, raising the cumulative total to 7,059 cases.

The British drugmaker AstraZeneca said that it will make a billion Covid-19 vaccine doses within this year and the next if Covid-19 vaccine trials succeed. It is developing vaccines with Oxford University.
Premier League clubs resume training in a staggered manner
Manchester United and Liverpool have begun non-contact training. Maguire, defender for United, said he feels safe returning to the training sessions and hopes that normal training can slowly resume. Liverpool, who sit at the top of the table, have started training sessions. Coach Jurgen Klopp said, "Today we started with training, good things, not the highest intensity but the boys look in good shape."
Brazil could be second-most affected nation soon
Brazil reported at least 20,000 fresh cases and 888 deaths. Brazil currently has 2,91,579 cases of Covid-19. US the most number of affected people and deaths. Russia is currently the second-most affected.
Union minister says India needs to go back to normal
Union minister Piyush Goyal said that booking s are to resume at ticket counters of stations in next 2-3 days while speaking to PTI. He said that so far 27 trains have plied with migrant workers to Bengal. 1.7 lakh common service centers will also resume operations, the Union minister added.

More than 1 lakh tickets have been booked for the first set of 73 special passenger trains which will start from June 1.

South Korea reports 12 cases of Covid-19
Seoul's KCDC said that nation has recorded 12 fresh cases of Covid-19 bringing the total number of cases to 11,122 and 124 deaths.

Bangladesh Beximco will start selling Gilead's remdesivir in a bid to curb the Covid-19 infection. Each vial will cost $71 which equals to 6000 Bangladeshi taka.
Jharkhand records 290 cases
Jharkhand's health department said that there are 158 active cases of Covid-19 in the state. 129 people have recovered. Jharkhand has so far recorded 290 Covid cases.

Indian Railways delays online booking of passengers
Citing teething issues Indian Railways said that it will undertake a graded restoration as weather conditions in the eastern part of the nation will impact the 'firing up' of the systems. Railways will also take this approach because it feels that a large amount of people logging in at the same amount of time can create issues and it has asked people to remain patient.
Lodhi Garden reopens for public
Delhi has reopened its Lodhi Gardens for public. Delhi has eased several restrictions but non-essential activities will not be allowed.
Olympics could be cancelled if not held in 2021
IOC chief Thomas Bach says Tokyo Games need to be held in 2021 or there is a risk that the Games could be called off completely. Bach said holding the Olympics is a mammoth task and he understands Japan PM's apprehensions regarding health and safety issues.

Contact tracing has been started at Tihar and Mandoli jails after an official at Central Jail number 11 tested positive.
