Just a day after announcing some key developments related to government's ₹20 lakh crore economic package, Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman addressed the media again on Thursday.
"Today's initiatives focuses on migrant workers, street vendors, small traders, the self-employed and small farmers," the finance minister said as she began her address to the media.
On Wednesday, the finance minister shared details of the stimulus package and had said that over the next few days, her team will come before the media to put forth PM Narendra Modi’s vision and share more details on ₹20 lakh crore economic package.
Coronavirus cases in India went up to 78,003, according to the data published on the health ministry website on Thursday. As many as 2,549 people have died of the disease in the country.

One inmate of Delhi's Rohini Jail has tested positive for Covid-19. He was in DDU hospital for some intestinal problem and was operated upon on May 10. He was also tested for coronavirus and his result came yesterday. Twenty other inmates and 5 jail staff have been quarantined, a Jail official told ANI.

Nine states on Wednesday filed a lawsuit against the US Environmental Protection Agency for relaxing a range of companies’ compliance and monitoring requirements with federal clean air and water laws in response to the coronavirus pandemic, arguing the policy is too broad and not transparent, reported news agency Reuters.
