Madras High Court orders closure of all state-run TASMAC liquor shops in Tamil Nadu, permits only online sale of liquor. There have been protests in the state against the state government's order to open standalone liquor shops amid Covid-19 lockdown.

On Monday, the Tamil Nadu government had announced the opening of TASMAC outlets (state-run liquor shops) in all areas except in containment zones.

Number of active Covid-19 cases have gone down in Uttarakhand: Govt

Number of active cases of Covid-19 has decreased to 16 in Uttarakhand, state chief secretary Utpal Kumar Singh told news agency ANI on Friday.

"The doubling rate of cases is 96 days and the rate of recovery of Covid-19 patients stands at 74%, he said.

He added that there are 7 containment zones in Uttarakhand.

Odisha has increased quarantine period to 28 days from the present 14 days including 21 days of institutional quarantine and subsequent seven days home quarantine, a government spokesperson said on Friday, reports ANI.
