The novel coronavirus pandemic has killed more than 9,800 people and infected over 240,000 so far. In India, the number of Covid-19 cases rose to 236 including 196 active cases and four deaths, according to the health ministry figures released on Friday morning.
Calling it a challenge for which there is no cure as yet, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in an address to the nation on Thursday, stressed on the importance of self-isolation and social distancing. He also called for a Citizens' Curfew on March 22 and asked people not to indulge in panic buying.

Stocks sank to their worst week since the financial crisis of 2008 as traders went into full retreat out of fear that the coronavirus will plunge the U.S. and other major economies into deep recessions. The Dow industrials dropped more than 900 points, extending their weekly loss to 17%, reports AP.

IndiGo said on Friday that it will be operating 60 per cent of its domestic flights on Sunday when 'Janta curfew' would be in force. Moreover, as the airline has seen reduction in demand due to the pandemic, it will be operating 25 per cent less domestic flights for now, reports PTI.

The number of registered cases in the country rose to 19,980 on Friday from 17,147 on Thursday, Simon said.
