As per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India registered 2,26,770 cases and 6,348 deaths due to Covid-19. In the New Delhi the number of cases crossed the 25,000 mark. The death toll in the capital city now stands at 650. A Total of 20 officials of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation tested positive with the metro administration saying that all precautionary measures are being taken to prevent the spread of the disease.
A data consolidated by the chief labour commission of India revealed that 46% of the country’s migrant workers have returned back home or are on their way.
Flight operations are set to restore in United States with American Airlines and United Airlines adding flights in the month of July. This move comes after US carriers objected to China’s plan to ease ban on foreign airlines starting from June 8. United States still continues to be the worst affected nation with total cases exceeding 1.9 million and death toll at 110,171.

Number of active cases in Goa touch 130, says CM
The number of active Covid-19 cases in Goa has reached 130 as on Friday, and widespread testing for the infection was underway in Mangor Hill, the state's first containment area, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said.
The Mangor Hill area in Vasco has seen a sizable number of cases, but it is local spread and not community transmission, Sawant added.
TN virus cases tally crosses 28 K mark, 12 more people die
Tamil Nadu continued to witness a surge in Covid-19 infections with 1,438 cases and 12 deaths reported on Friday, taking the count to 28,694 and fatalities to 232.
Of the fresh positive cases, Chennai alone accounted for 1,116 with the state capital's aggregate touching a whopping 19,826.

A 55-year-old official of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) has succumbed to Covid-19, the first death from the pandemic in the border guarding force.
Officials on Friday said the deceased was a head constable-rank official and was posted in the 25th battalion of the force based in Delhi.

Five employees of the Union health ministry, including a director, an under-secretary have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last seven days, prompting the authorities to carry out a "major and comprehensive disinfection and sanitisation" of office premises from June 6-7.
Jamia Millia Islamia to open its offices with 50 per cent staff
In view of the Covid-19 outbreak, the Jamia Millia Islamia has said its offices would be opened with 50 per cent staff and asked employees above 60 years to work from home. In an office order issued on Thursday, the varsity said employees who reside in the containment zones will work from home until their area is removed from the category by the government.
Govt staff in Maharashtra must report to work once a week or face pay cut
The Maharashtra government on Friday said it was mandatory for government employees to be present in office once a week during the Covid-19 lockdown, failing which they will have to face salary cut.
As per a notification issued by additional chief secretary (finance) Manoj Saunik, all government departments have been asked to prepare a roaster of officers and employees affiliated to them.
Gradual fall in recovery rate of Covid-19 patients in Delhi in last 10 days: Data
Amid surge in coronavirus cases, recovery rate of Covid-19 patients in the national capital has gradually fallen in the last 10 days, dipping to 39.58 per cent as reported on June 4, according to official figures.
This is the first time in the past two weeks that the recovery rate has fallen below 40 per cent.
Odisha reports eighth Covid-19 death, total cases cross 2,500
A 63-year-old man succumbed to Cvid-19 in Khurda district on Friday, taking Odisha's death toll due to the virus to eight, a health department official said.
The man, who was undergoing treatment at a Covid-19 hospital in Bhubaneswar, was also suffering from diabetes, the official said.

The Supreme Court started hearing the migrant labourers matter. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told the apex court that 4,228 have been operated by the Indian Railways till June 3, reports ANI.

Covid-19 infections in Russia near near 450,000, 8,726 cases reported
Russia reported 8,726 new cases of the novel coronavirus on Friday, pushing the total number of infections to 449,834. Officials said 144 people had died in the last 24 hours, bringing the official nationwide death toll to 5,528, reports Reuters.
Coronavirus outbreak under control in France: Report
The Coronavirus pandemic is now "under control" in France, the head of the government's scientific advisory council said Friday, as the country cautiously lifts a lockdown imposed in March, reports AFP.

No new schemes to be initiated in 2020-21, says Finance Ministry
Remaining of year 2020 will see no new schemes, the finance ministry announced, a move aimed at tightening the spending even as the country is witnessing a surge in Covid-19 cases. The ministry said only the ones sanctioned and announced under the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan and other special packages will be attended to.
In-principle approval for such schemes will not be given this financial year. Initiation of new schemes already appraised/approved will remain suspended for one year till march 31, 2021 or till further orders whichever is earlier:
