China is also reporting a new strain of swine flu which is causing concern for the authorities. WHO has exercised caution and has asked countries to bolster contact tracing as well as their health systems.
Amid pandemic, Bahrain to cover 50% salaries of private sector workers
The island nation of Bahrain says it will cover 50 per cent of the salaries of private-sector workers amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The island kingdom off Saudi Arabia in the Persian Gulf says the program will begin in July and covers "insured citizens employed in the private sector working for companies most affected by the coronavirus.
"The payments will go on for three months. The kingdom says it also will cover electricity bills at employees' homes. (AP)
Lockdown extended in UK's Leicester city
While the UK prepares to lift restrictions, the Covid-19 lockdown was extended in Leicester city after a surge in the number of infections of the viral disease.
The lockdown has been extended for at least two weeks more than the rest of England.
The city has one of the country's largest India-origin populations.
Delhi's coronavirus recovery rate at 66.03%
The coronavirus recovery rate in the national capital reached 66.03 per cent on June 29 as against the national rate of 58.67 per cent, according to official figures.
In June, the national capital added over 64,000 fresh cases to its tally, while over 47,357 patients recovered, were discharged or migrated. (PTI)
PM Modi chairs high-level meet to review vaccine preparedness
Ahead of the 4pm address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting to review the preparations being undertaken for vaccination against Covid-19, as and when a vaccine is available, ANI reported.
Singapore reports 246 new Covid-19 cases
Singapore reported 246 new Covid-19 cases, mostly foreign workers living in dormitories, the health ministry said.
With the detection of the latest cases, the Covid-19 tally in Singapore increased to 43,907.
Russia reported 6,693 cases of Covid-19
Russia saw its Covid-19 tally cross 650,000 as the nation reported 6,693 cases and 154 deaths. 9,320 people have died so far due to the Covid-19 in Russia.
