Highlights: Rajasthan reports 10 deaths and 382 new Covid-19 positive cases

Indian armed forces personnel, who need to be quarantined after coming back from leave or temporary posting, will not be required to undergo Covid-19 testing before, during and after the quarantine period unless symptomatic, according to a revised protocol, reports PTI.

Two deaths and 185 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Maharashtra police in the last 48 hours. The total number of infections in police department has risen to 4288 out of which 998 cases are active. While the number of deaths due to viral infection stands at 51.

The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) sealed a private hospital for violating Covid-19 guidelines that led to the transmission of the infection to 27 persons, an official said.

The hospital had admitted a coronavirus positive patient instead of shifting him to a dedicated Covid-19 facility in the city, the official said.

Sicily’s governor says 28 migrants who were rescued at sea have tested positive for the coronavirus, confirming a new complication in Italy’s efforts to manage waves of migrants smuggled across the Mediterranean from Africa.

Tripura reported 23 fresh coronavirus cases on Wednesday, taking the final tally to 1,264, health department officials said.

Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday surpassed the 10,000 mark as it reported 497 new cases of coronavirus infections in the last 24-hours. The number of total cases now stands at 10,331 in the state, the health department said on Wednesday.

According to a study published in the European Respiratory Journal, the Covid-19 pandemic may lead to 95,000 additional tuberculosis (TB) related deaths in India.

The unprecedented outbreak of Covid-19 has disrupted health services across the world, causing delays in diagnosis and treatment of other diseases.

The report estimated at least 110,000 additional deaths from TB in India, China, and South Africa unless health services maintained and strengthened.
