Live: Delhi records highest single-day spike with 2,137 new Covid-19 cases

Uttarakhand records 37 new Covid-19 positive cases today, taking the total number of positive cases in the state to 1692, reports ANI quoting State Health Department.

Indonesia reported 1,111 new cases and 48 deaths due to Coronavirus. The total number of cases in the country have gone up to 36,406 and the death toll stands at 2,048, health ministry official Achmad Yurianto said. Yurianto said 577 more patients had recovered from Covid-19, bringing the total number of recovered cases to 13,213, reports Reuters.

Manipur's capital city Imphal recorded 19 new Coronavirus cases, taking the total number of cases in the city to 385, out of which active cases are at 312, reports ANI.

141 more people tested positive for Covid-19 in the state of Andhra Pradesh in the last 24 hours. The total number of cases in the state have reached 4,402 which includes 1,723 active cases and 80 deaths, reports ANI.

Russia reported 8,779 cases of the novel coronavirus, bringing its nationwide tally of infections to 511,423. Officials said 183 people had died in the last 24 hours, pushing the official national death toll to 6,715, reports Reuters.

Supreme Court said that Covid-19 patients were being treated worse than animals and dead bodies were found in garbage. The apex court seeks report from four states regarding the same.

Supreme Court said that hospitals across the country are not taking proper care of deceased Covid-19 patients and not even informing family members about deaths, reports PTI.

Coronavirus cases in the state of Jharkhand have reached 1,607 out of which active cases are at 969. Eight deaths due to the infection have been reported so far, the state's health department said, reports ANI.

British economy shrank by a colossal 20.4% in April, the first full month that the country was in its coronavirus lockdown. The Office for National Statistics said that all areas of the economy were hit, in particular pubs, education, health and car sales, reports AP.

Total 163 Coronavirus cases have been recorded in Puducherry, out of which 84 are active cases and 76 people have been discharged so far. The death toll stands at three, reports ANI.

The Supreme Court also mentioned that industries and labourers require each other and efforts should be made to resolve disputes over payment of wages. The apex court has also asked states to facilitate settlement between firms and employees over wage payment, submit reports before labour commissioners, reports PTI.

The Surpeme Court said that no action will be taken against private firms that failed to pay full wages during the lockdown imposed to curb the spread of Covid-19, reports PTI.

The Supreme Court seeks reply from Ministry of Civil Aviation on petitions seeking complete refund of airline tickets booked for flights during the lockdown period. The apex court has also asked Centre and airlines to sit together and devise modalities for ways to refund, reports ANI.
