The number of people infected with Covid-19 in India has risen to 2,16,919 as on Thursday, according to the latest figures provided by the health ministry. Of the total cases, 1,06,737 are active while 1,04,107 people have recovered from the coronavirus disease. The virus has so far claimed 6,075 lives in the country.

Meanwhile, experts across the country have hailed the World Health Organization’s decision to resume clinical trials of hydroxychloroquine as potential treatment for the disease. The UN body had earlier suspended the trials of the drug over safety concerns.

Assam recorded 47 new cases of the novel coronavirus, taking the state tally to 1,877. Four people have and 413 have been discharged so far, reports ANI.

Germany records 394 new cases
The Robert Koch institute in Germany has recorded 394 new cases which have taken the number of infections above the 182,000 mark.
India fresh Covid-19 cases cross 9,000-mark
India has registered 9,304 fresh cases. India has also recorded 260 deaths in the last 24 hours as well.

Brazil records 1,349 Covid-19 deaths in a single day
Coronavirus continues to strike South America's Brazil hard as the nation continues to beat its daily record of cases and deaths by registering a new 24-hour spike. 1,349 people have died in last 24-hours and 32,548 people have died so far in Brazil.
