The number of people infected with Covid-19 in India has risen to 2,16,919 as on Thursday, according to the latest figures provided by the health ministry. Of the total cases, 1,06,737 are active while 1,04,107 people have recovered from the coronavirus disease. The virus has so far claimed 6,075 lives in the country.

Meanwhile, experts across the country have hailed the World Health Organization’s decision to resume clinical trials of hydroxychloroquine as potential treatment for the disease. The UN body had earlier suspended the trials of the drug over safety concerns.

Gujarat registered 492 fresh Covid-19 cases on Thursday taking the state's tally to 18,609 in 18,609. The virus has claimed 1,155 live in the state so far, officials said.

Uttarakhand Covid-19 tally reaches 1153
According to latest figures by the state health department, Uttarakhand's count of Covid-19 infections has increased to 1,153.
Kolkata reports 368 more Covid-19 cases
Kolkata registered 368 more Covid-19 cases on Thursday taking the total count to 6876 while the death toll stands at 283 with 10 deaths reported in the last 24 hours.
Of the total cases, 3,753 are active cases, while 2,768 have recovered, the state department said.

India has today pledged 15 million US Dollars to Gavi, the international vaccine alliance.
"PM Modi was addressing the virtual Global Vaccine Summit hosted by UK PM Boris Johnson in which over 50 countries-business leaders, UN agencies, civil society,govt ministers participated," the Prime Minister's office has said, according to news agency ANI.
Maharashtra's Covid-19 tally goes up to 77,793 with 2,933 fresh cases
The number of Covid-19 infections in Maharashtra rose to 77,793 on Thursday with the state recording 2,933 fresh cases in the last 24 hours.
The state has registered 123 more deaths, highest in a single day, taking the total toll to 2,710.
Low testing level in parts of Delhi worrisome: Union health minister
Union health minister Harsh Vardhan on Thursday said that the rising cases of coronavirus disease, high rate of positivity and low level of testing in parts of Delhi were worrisome.
Vardhan chaired a high-level meeting through video-conferencing to review the Capital's preparedness. He stressed on the need to step up testing along with aggressive surveillance, contact tracing and stringent containment and perimeter control measures.

Covid-19 claims fourth life in Maharashtra's Latur
A fourth person died of the coronavirus disease in Maharashtra's Latur, taking the districts's toll to four, officials said on Thursday.
A 55-year-old-man from Patoda village in Ahmadpur tehsil is the latest fatality. He was admitted to the hospital 11 days back, according to officials.
