Nearly 16 million infected with Covid-19 across the world
The number of people infected with the coronavirus disease has crossed 1.38 million in India. Of the total 1,385,522 confirmed cases, 467,882 are active while 885,576 people have recovered from Covid-19 and have been discharged from the hospital. The disease has claimed 32063 lives in the country, according to the ministry of health and family welfare’s dashboard on Sunday.

While Maharashtra, Delhi and Tamil Nadu were responsible for nearly two of every three new infections reported till early July, the current spurt in Covid-19 cases are being reported from Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Gujarat, Karnataka, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal.
Meanwhile, the global Covid-19 tally is nearing the 16 million-mark. Of the 15,983,502 across the globe, 4,176,416 were reported from the United States and 2,394,513 from Brazil, the second most affected nation. The virus has so far killed 643,371 people, according to Johns Hopkins University’s tally.

Rio de Janeiro cancels New Year's Eve festivities amid Covid-19 concerns
The annual New Year's Eve celebrations that witness participation of millions on Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro have been cancelled this year as the Covid-19 cases in the country continue to soar, city authorities said.
Bengaluru hospital to ramp up Covid-19 bed capacity
A hospital in Bengaluru is all to increase its bed capacity for Covid-19 patients from 340 to 500 in two weeks as cases across the city continue to surge.
The MS Ramaiah Hospital took the decision after a meeting with deputy chief minister Dr CN Ashwath Narayan, who visited the hospital.
Mainland China reports 46 new coronavirus cases
China reported 46 cases of the new coronavirus in the mainland for July 25, the health commission said on Sunday. Of the new infections, 22 were in the western region of Xinjiang, while 13 were in the northeastern province of Liaoning, while the remaining 11 were imported cases.
Mexico reports 6,751 new coronavirus cases, 729 new deaths
Mexico's health ministry on Saturday reported 6,751 new confirmed cases of coronavirus infection and 729 additional fatalities, bringing the total in the country to 385,036 cases and 43,374 total deaths.
US reports over 68,000 Covid-19 cases in 24 hours
The United States on Saturday recorded a spike of 68,212 coronavirus cases in the previous 24 hours taking the country's tally to 4,174,437, the highest in the world.
According to Johns Hopkins University’s dashboard on Sunday morning, the nation reported 1,067 fatalities from the disease pushing the toll to to 146,391.
Florida Covid-19 cases top New York’s
Florida passed New York as the US state with the second-highest number of total virus cases of coronavirus disease behind California. Infections across the US increased by the second-highest daily count on record.
New York added 750 positive tests for a total of 411,200 while Florida reported 414,511 total positive tests on Saturday compared with 402,312 a day earlier, an increase of 12,199.
Still, deaths among Florida residents dropped for a second straight day to 124, for a total of 5,777.
Brazil reports over 51,000 new Covid-19 cases
Brazil registered a spike of 51,147 Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours pushing the country's infection tally to 2,394,513 while the toll from the disease has gone up to 86,449, according to the latest data from the country's health ministry.
Lockdown in Tripura from tomorrow
A total lockdown will be imposed in Tripura Monday 5 am onwards till 5 am on July 30. This will be in continuation of the night curfew to be imposed from 9 pm on 26th July, the state government said on Saturday.
