The number of people infected with the coronavirus disease has crossed 1.38 million in India. Of the total 1,385,522 confirmed cases, 467,882 are active while 885,576 people have recovered from Covid-19 and have been discharged from the hospital. The disease has claimed 32063 lives in the country, according to the ministry of health and family welfare’s dashboard on Sunday.

While Maharashtra, Delhi and Tamil Nadu were responsible for nearly two of every three new infections reported till early July, the current spurt in Covid-19 cases are being reported from Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Gujarat, Karnataka, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal.
Meanwhile, the global Covid-19 tally is nearing the 16 million-mark. Of the 15,983,502 across the globe, 4,176,416 were reported from the United States and 2,394,513 from Brazil, the second most affected nation. The virus has so far killed 643,371 people, according to Johns Hopkins University’s tally.

Covid-19 death toll mounts to 83 in Jharkhand with 7 more fatalities
Jharkhand registered 214 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours taking the state's infection tally to 7,841, the health department said in a bulletin. The toll due to the coronavirus disease has risen to 83 with 7 more fatalities.
Of the new fatalities, two each were reported from Ranchi and East Singhbhum districts, while one each was reported from Sareikela, Dhanbad and Ramgarh, the bulletin said.
PM Modi praises sarpanchs for efforts during Covid-19 pandemic
"During Covid-19 pandemic, Balbir Kaur, sarpanch of Trewa in Jammu, built a 30-bed quarantine bed in her panchayat. Jaituna Begum of Chountliwar in Ganderbal resolved that her panchayat will fight Covid-19 and also create employment opportunities," PM Modi said on 'Mann ki Baat'.
Need to remain vigilant: PM Modi
"India's Covid-19 recovery rate is better than others. Our fatality rate is much less than most other countries. We are able to save the lives of lakhs of people but threat of coronavirus is not over yet. It is spreading at a rapid pace which is why we need to remain vigilant," PM Modi said.

Madhya Pradesh chief minister on Sunday tweeted that he was fine and thanked all corona warriors for their effort.

Australia's Victoria reports record 10 deaths, 459 cases in last 24 hours
Australia’s Victoria state reported a daily high in the number of deaths from the coronavirus and another surge in infections. The fatalities bring Victoria's toll to 71 and Australia's national tally to 155. A total of 228 people are hospitalized in Victoria, 42 in intensive care.

Rajasthan issues fresh guidelines for Covid-19 testing
Rajasthan health department has issued fresh guidelines for Covid-19 testing in the state. It is now mandatory to submit Aadhaar Card ID in the RT-PCR App for the person being tested for coronavirus. The testing labs are now required to provide results within 24 hours of conducting the test.
Very few patients now need hospitalization, says Delhi CM
"Corona bed occupancy has come down sharply from 23 June to 26 July.
Much lesser no of people are now falling ill. Most of those falling ill are getting treated at home. Therefore, v few people are now needing hospitalization," Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal said in a tweet on Sunday.
First part of Phase-1 of Covaxin human trial concludes at PGI Rohtak
The first part of Phase-1 of Covaxin human trial completed on Saturday at Post-Graduate Institute (PGI) of Medical Sciences, Rohtak, said Dr Savita Verma, principal investigator of the vaccine trial team.
Six people were administered the vaccine on Saturday under the second part of Phase-1, Verma told news agency ANI.
