The number of people infected with the coronavirus disease has crossed 1.38 million in India. Of the total 1,385,522 confirmed cases, 467,882 are active while 885,576 people have recovered from Covid-19 and have been discharged from the hospital. The disease has claimed 32063 lives in the country, according to the ministry of health and family welfare’s dashboard on Sunday.

While Maharashtra, Delhi and Tamil Nadu were responsible for nearly two of every three new infections reported till early July, the current spurt in Covid-19 cases are being reported from Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Gujarat, Karnataka, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal.
Meanwhile, the global Covid-19 tally is nearing the 16 million-mark. Of the 15,983,502 across the globe, 4,176,416 were reported from the United States and 2,394,513 from Brazil, the second most affected nation. The virus has so far killed 643,371 people, according to Johns Hopkins University’s tally.

Active Covid-19 cases plunge below 800 after almost 1 month
Uttar Pradesh's Gautam Buddh Nagar recorded 110 new Covid-19 patients on Sunday, even as the number of active cases in the district slipped below the 800-mark after almost a month, official data showed.
So far, 4,748 people have tested positive for the infection in the district while the number of active cases stood at 773, according to the data released by the Uttar Pradesh Health Department for a 24-hour period.

Kerala reported 927 new Covid-19 cases, including 16 health workers on Sunday, taking the infection tally to 18,140.
The state capital reported 175 cases, followed by Kasaragod 107, Pathnamthitta 91 and Kollam 74, Health minister K K Shailaja said.

Delhi recorded 1,075 Covid-19 cases on Sunday, pushing the city's caseload to over 1.30 lakh, while the death toll mounted to 3,827, authorities said.
Twenty-one fatalities have been recorded in the last 24 hours, according to the health department's bulletin.

Rajasthan Governor expresses concern over growing coronavirus infections in state
Rajasthan Governor Kalraj Mishra on Sunday expressed concern over growing coronavirus infections in the state, and said the number of active cases has tripled since July 1.
According to a Raj Bhawan statement, the governor directed that serious efforts should be made to control the spread of the disease. He noted that active Covid-19 cases have tripled in the state since July 1.
