Highlights: UP reports 1,388 new Covid-19 cases, 21 deaths in last 24 hours

All election rallies of Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa have been cancelled temporarily, the SLPP announced on Sunday, following a spike in coronavirus cases in the country. (PTI)

Authorities ordered a partial lockdown in Srinagar by designating over 60 containment zones amid a surge in coronavirus cases over the past week, officials said.

"In view of the major spike in Covid-19 cases, we will have to carve out containment zones for effective restrictions in different areas of Srinagar. Local cooperation is solicited in best interest of public health," District Magistrate, Srinagar, Shahid Iqbal Choudhary said.

No movement would be allowed in these areas without permission.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered to conduct 50,000 Covid-19 tests per day in the state, in view of the rapidly spreading virus.

Actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and her daughter Aaradhya Bachchan tested positive for Covid-19, Maharashtra health minister Rajesh Tope confirmed on Sunday. Meanwhile, Jaya Bachchan's test came negative.

A day earlier, her husband Abhishek Bachchan and Amitabh Bachchan were detected positive for Covid-19.

Smt.Aishwarya Rai Bacchan & Daughter Aaradhya Abhishek Bacchan have also been detected positive for Covid19. Smt. Jaya Bachhan ji is tested negative for covid19. We wish the Bacchan Family to get well soon with a speedy recovery.

Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan on Sunday visited the 10,000 bedded Sardar Patel Covid Care Centre & Hospital at Radha Soami Beas in Chattarpur, Delhi.

Maharashtra governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari said he is not in self-isolation and feels perfectly alright. He says he has no symptoms of Covid-19.

Actor Anupam Kher posted a video in Twitter informing that his mother and three other family members have tested positive for Covid-19.

This is to inform all that my mother Dulari is found Covid + (Mildly). We have admitted her into Kokilaben Hospital. Civil Aviation Ministry informed the airlines that passengers submitting a self-declaration form which says that they have not tested positive for COVID-19 during the three weeks prior to the departure date will be allowed to take their flight.

Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar said, "Jaya Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan were tested last night using rapid antigen kit. Both have tested negative, but have been quarantined for 14 days.

Seoul's KCDC said 44 new cases have been found at Seoul and other cities. The nation has found 50-60 new cases on an average since lockdowns were lifted.

Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi said that he is surprised regarding the traceability of his infection. He also mentions he was in complete isolation since lockdown 1. He has tested negative on Saturday and was asymptomatic throughout.

Germany's recorded 248 new cases of Covid-19 in last 24 hours which took the nation's tally to 198,804. 3 people died during the same period taking the tally to 9,063.

India recorded 28,637 new cases and 551 fresh fatalities in 24-hours.

Pralhad Joshi, BJP MP and parliamentary affairs minister while speaking to ANI, said that the monsoon session of the Parliament will be certainly held. All formalities are being taken care of along with necessary precautions by the govt, he added.

16 staff members working in Maharashtra governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari's residence have tested positive for Covid-19. Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari will take the test if need arises. BMC said earlier 2 people had tested for Covid-19, following which 100 people were tested of which 14 tested positive.
