In the biggest one day spike in coronavirus infections, United States recorded more than 47,000 cases on Tuesday, according to a Reuters tally.
California, Texas and Arizona have emerged as new US epicenters of the pandemic, reporting record increases in Covid-19 cases.
Infectious disease expert Anthony Fauci on Tuesday warned the authorities against the negligence in precautions saying that new coronavirus cases could more than double to 100,000 per day if authorities and the public fail to take steps to suppress the pandemic.
Meanwhile, India recorded highest number of fatalities in the last 24 hours with a jump of 507 deaths. The number of Covid-19 infection was pushed beyond 5.85 lakh after reports of 18,653 new cases, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The number of deaths in the country stood at 17,400.
The national capital remained in the list of the worst-affected state as it recorded 2,084 infections on Tuesday, taking the total tally to 85,161.
In the national capital, the Delhi Medical Council has collaborated with New Delhi district authorities to train community-based health care workers to fight against Covid-19.
In Maharashtra, the number of infections is at 77, 197.

Section 144 imposed in Mumbai to check rising Covid-19 cases
According to a report in PTI, Mumbai police on Wednesday issued prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC in the city, restricting movement of people in public places, and said the measure was taken to check rising Covid-19 cases.
With 903 new patients reported on Tuesday, coronavirus case tally in Mumbai increased to 77,197 while death toll rose to 4,554 with 93 more fatalities.

Germany easing entry rules for 11 non-EU nations
Germany relaxed restrictions on travellers from up to 11 countries outside the European Union, the country's interior ministry announced on Wednesday.
As of Thursday, people from Australia, Georgia, Canada, Montenegro, New Zealand, Thailand, Tunisia and Uruguay will be able to enter without restrictions. That will also apply to Japan, South Korea and China -- but only if those countries also allow people from Germany to enter.
Covid-19: Bangladesh extends restriction measures till Aug 3
Bangladesh has extended restrictions imposed on public activities and movement across the country until August 3 to contain the spread of the coronavirus as the number of positive cases rose to 1,45,483 and the death toll reached 1,847. (PTI)

The World Health Organisation on Wednesday warned about the further surge in Covid-19 cases as the world health body said, "as long as the virus is circulating somewhere, no country is safe."
Dr Takeshi Kasai , WHO Regional Director for the Western Pacific, said, communities must be prepared for more case surges in the future.
He says as long as the virus is circulating somewhere, no country is safe.
Covid-19 cases in Thane district nearly doubled in 15 days
The Covid-19 cases in Maharashtra's Thane district have nearly doubled in the last 15 days and risen considerably since May 1, a data released by the authorities revealed.
According to a health bulletin, Thane district, which had detected just 1,011 coronavirus cases till May 1, has recorded 33,324 infections till Tuesday night.
