Highlights: 7,581 coronavirus cases in Gujarat, death toll at 277

WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that a divided planet could not conquer the coronavirus crisis, after the US formally started its withdrawal from the UN agency.

In Maharashtra's Dharavi, 9 fresh cases of Covid-19 have taken the tally to 2,347, the city's civic body said.

A private laboratory in Pune has been stopped from conducting Covid-19 tests following some discrepancy in a report, a senior district official said on Thursday.

Florida, which was once lauded by US President Donald Trump for being a model in managing the coronavirus pandemic is now one of the epicenters of the outbreak.

Nepal on Thursday reported 108 new coronavirus cases, taking the country's total count to 16,531, reported news agency PTI.

"Bharat Biotech and Cadila Healthcare are developing vaccines. Both vaccines completed animal toxicity studies after approval. DCGI has permitted these 2 vaccines to go in for phase 1 and 2 clinical trials. Trials will hopefully begin soon," said Rajesh Bhushan, OSD, Health Ministry.

"It is a dynamic and evolving situation; we are keeping abreast with the information coming from WHO headquarters on this aspect," said Rajesh Bhushan, OSD, Ministry of Health on World Health Organization (WHO) saying that "the virus may be airborne".

"World Health Organization has also not provided any standard definition of the localised outbreak and community transmission. They have given its member states the right to report after assessing the local conditions," said Rajesh Bhushan, OSD, Ministry of Health.

As many as 749 fresh cases of Covid-19 were reported in Bihar on Wednesday.

The Home Ministry said that recovery rate in the state of Delhi is more than 72%. The national capital has registered nearly 105,000 cases and more than 3,200 deaths due to the infection.

The Indian Council of Medical Research during the joint briefing with health ministry and home affairs ministry said that the council is conducting 2.6 lakh samples per day in the country.

The health ministry also said that the gap between active cases and those recovered from the infection is progressively increasing. Recovered cases in India is almost 2 times more than the active cases.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said that despite a population of 1.3 billion, India has managed the novel coronavirus relatively well as compared to other nations.
