India’s Covid-19 tally on Thursday crossed 9.73 million after 31,521 new cases were logged in the last 24 hours. The total cases now include 372,293 active cases, over 9.25 million recoveries and 141,772 deaths, according to the Union health ministry’s dashboard.

Maharashtra, Delhi and Kerala continue to be worst affected from the pandemic. Delhi’s Covid tally is nearing the 600,000-mark with 20,546 active cases and 569,216 recoveries. Health minister Satyendar Jain said the national capital recorded 50 deaths on Wednesday, the lowest since November 1 and added it was emerging victorious in the fight against the pandemic. In a series of tweets, he also said that for the first time in Delhi, 'more than 2,500 ICU beds' were vacant for infected patients.

Meanwhile, documents related to the Pfizer/BioNTech’s Covid-19 vaccine were hacked during a cyber attack at the EU regulator, the organisation said. Documents relating to the vaccine candidate had been accessed, but that no systems have been breached in connection with this incident, it added.

Health ministry says Covid-19 daily death toll in India less than 500 for past five days

Ministry of health and family welfare on Thursday has reported that daily Covid-19 death toll in India has remained below 500 for the past five days.

India reported 31,522 new infections and 412 deaths taking total infections to 9,767,372 cases and 141,772 fatalities.

A total of 372,293 active cases are present. Total recoveries stand at 9,253,306 patients of whom 37,725 have recovered in the last 24 hours, reports ANI.

Chhattisgarh reports 1,518 Covid-19 cases, 16 deaths

Covid-19 tally in Chattisgarh reached 252,638 total cases and 3,054 fatalities, after the state reported 1,518 new Covid-19 cases and 16 deaths on Thursday.

A health official said that there are 19,346 active cases in the state. Total recoveries reached 230,238 patients after 177 people were discharged from hospitals and another 1,682 patients coming out of their home isolation, reports PTI.

Gujarat's Covid-19 tally reaches 224,081 cases, 4,135 deaths


Gujarat's health department reported 1,270 Covid-19 cases with 12 fatalities on Thursday, taking the state's tally to 224,081 cases and 4,135 deaths.

With a recovery rate of 91.99 per cent and 1,465 patients having recovered in the past 24 hours, total recoveries in the state reach 206,126 patients.

Overall, 84.92 lakhs tests have been done in the state, of which 60,547 tests in the last 24 hours, reported PTI.
