India's Covid-19 recovery rate at 76.61%, fatality rate dips to 1.79%: Govt

Russia reported 4,980 new coronavirus cases on Sunday, pushing its confirmed national tally up to 990,326. Authorities said 68 people had died of Covid-19 over the last 24 hours, raising the official death toll to 17,093, reports Reuters.

As many as 161 personnel of the Maharashtra Police tested positive for Covid-19 while one died in the last 24 hours. The total cases in the police forces has reached 14,953 which include 2,800 active cases, 11,999 recoveries and 154 deaths, reports ANI.

Odisha's Covid-19 tally on Sunday crossed 100,000 after 3,014 new cases and 12 deaths were registered. The total cases include 29,685 active 70,714 recoveries and 482 deaths, reports PTI.

On resumption of metro under Unlock 4, Delhi transport minister Kailash Gahlot said that the state government will ensure that social distancing is maintained in the metros and thermal screening of passengers will be done at the entry. No tokens will be issued, smart cards and other digital methods of payment will be used, Gahlot added, reports ANI.

Ladakh has recorded 2,603 cases of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) since March. The officials said while 1,745 patients have recovered from the infection and discharged from hospitals, 826 cases are still active in the twin districts – 496 in Leh and 330 in Kargil. The death toll stands at 32, reports PTI.

Telangana's Covid-19 tally on Sunday crossed 123,000 after 2,924 cases 1,638 recoveries and 10 deaths were registered in the last 24 hours. The active cases have mounted to 31,284, reports ANI.

According to the latest data from the health ministry, Brazil has now more than three million confirmed recoveries from Covid-19, while the country's coronavirus death toll stands at over 120,000 and the tally is at 3,846,153. The total number of recovered individuals stand at 3,006,812, reports Reuters.

India on Sunday logged 78,761 cases, 948 deaths due to the novel coronavirus pandemic. The total cases have climbed to 3,542,733 which includes 765,302 active cases, over 2.7 million recoveries and 63,498 deaths.

South Korea reported its 17th day of triple-digit rises in coronavirus infections on Sunday. There were 299 new infections as of Saturday midnight, the slowest daily rise in five days, bringing the national tally to 19,699 cases, reports Reuters.

Victoria, Australia posted 114 new cases of coronavirus on Sunday, a day after they fell to 94 which had put them below triple digits for the first time in nearly two months, reports Reuters.

Mainland China reported nine new confirmed cases of Covid-19 on Saturday, all of them imported, the National Health Commission said on Sunday, meaning there were no locally transmitted infections for a record 14th straight day, reports Reuters.
