India's Covid-19 recovery rate at 76.61%, fatality rate dips to 1.79%: Govt

Andhra Pradesh on Sunday reported over 10,000 Covid-19 cases for the consecutive fifth day taking the state tally to 4,24,767, the state health department said.

Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Sunday announced a 100-day action plan for mitigating sufferings faced by people due to coronavirus pandemic, news agency ANI reported.

Russia recorded 4,980 Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the nationwide tally to 990,326, Sputnik reported citing the country's coronavirus response centre.

Rajasthan on Sunday reported 603 new cases of the coronavirus disease taking the state's tally to 79,380, according to the state health department.

While the active cases stand at 14,730, the death toll has gone up to 1,037.

India's Covid-19 recoveries on Sunday crossed 27 lakh, the health ministry said. With the recovery of 64,935 cases in the last 24 hours, recoveries in the country today exceeded active cases by 3.55 times, it added.

According to the ministry, India's recovery rate improved to 76.61% while Case Fatality Rate has dipped to 1.79%.

The Uttarakhand government has decided to lift the travel restriction imposed in the state, barring the entry of more than 2,000 persons into the state a day, but said that those inbound will still have to register on smart city portal.

"This is to inform you that the upper limit fixed for certain categories for inbound people to Uttarakhand is removed and wherever RT-PCR test is mentioned may be read as RT-PCR test by ICMR authorised lab or TrueNAT test," an official order said on Sunday, according to ANI.

Singapore's health ministry on Sunday said that it would offer free Covid-19 tests to community groups such as taxi drivers, food delivery workers and hawkers so as to increase testing to contain the spread of the disease.

Ten Gujarat ATS personnel, who were involved in an investigation into the alleged attempt to kill BJP leaders, have so far tested positive for the coronavirus disease, an official was quoted as saying by news agency PTI on Sunday.

The Philippines on Sunday confirmed 4,284 more coronavirus infections and 102 additional deaths. The department of health said that the country's tally has climbed to 217,396 while the death toll stands at 3,520, reports Reuters.

Himachal Pradesh has till now registered 5,799 cases due to the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) disease. The total cases include 1,433 active cases, 4,289 recoveries and 33 death, reports ANI.
