The global Coronavirus (Covid-19)cases topped 18 million on Sunday, as various countries continued to see spike in infection. Six months after the UN health agency declared the coronavirus global emergency, it has killed more than 687,000 people across the world.
The United States which has recorded the maximum number of confirmed cases, saw an increase of 58,947 on Sunday which took the total tally at 4,601,526 cases.

In Brazil, the total Covid-19 death toll was up to over 94,000 after the country reported 540 new fatalities.

Meanwhile, in India, the number of people who have recovered from Covid-19 in India crossed the 1.1 million mark over the weekend. It was the highest number of recovery recorded yet in over two days.

WHO says there may never be a ‘silver bullet’ for Covid-19
The World Health Organization warned on Monday that while there were strong hopes for a Covid-19 vaccine, there might never be a "silver bullet" for the coronavirus that has infected millions around the world.
"There is no silver bullet at the moment and there might never be," director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told a virtual news briefing from the U.N. body's headquarters in Geneva.

Britain is on track to deliver half a million Covid tests a day by the end of October and new 90-minute tests will allow the government to accelerate that target, Health Secretary Matt Hancock said on Monday, according to Reuters report.
20 security personnel among 28 fresh Covid-19 cases in Meghalaya
Twenty-eight more people, including 20 security personnel, have tested positive for Covid-19 in Meghalaya, taking the northeastern state's virus count to 902 on Monday, officials said.
Twenty-one new cases were reported in East Khasi Hills district, under which Shillong falls, while five fresh infections were registered in Ri-Bhoi and two in West Jaintia Hills districts, they said.
