Highlights: Record 1,282 Covid-19 cases take Gujarat tally to 93,883

Jharkhand reports 1,299 new #COVID19 cases and 8 deaths, taking total cases to 37,112 including 25,216 recoveries and 398 deaths. Number of active cases stands at 11,498: State Health Department

Rajasthan reports 1,407 new Covid-19 cases and 13 deaths, taking the total positive cases and deaths in the state to 78,777 and 1,030 respectively. Total active cases in the state are 14,776, informed state health department.

Authorities in Karnataka detected 8,324 fresh Covid-19 positive cases and 115 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the total positive cases to 3,27,076 including 5,483 deaths, 2,35,128 discharges and 86,446 active cases, said state health department.

International air travel, except as permitted by Ministry of Home Affairs, to remain suspended, the government said while announcing Unlock 4 guidelines.

With 13 deaths, the toll rose to 2,991, it said.

State and UT governments shall not impose any local lockdown (State/ District/ sub-division/City/ village level), outside the containment zones, without prior consultation with the Central Government, said govt as it announced new guidelines for Unlock 4.

Lockdown shall continue to be implemented strictly in the Containment Zones till September 30, said government on Saturday after it allowed sports, entertainment, religious, political functions under Unlock 4.

Metro rail will be allowed to operate with effect from September 7 in a graded manner, by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MOHUA)/ Ministry of Railways (MOR), in consultation with MHA, said government of India.

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Saturday claimed that coronavirus cases in the coastal state were on the rise since Ganesh Chaturthi and this was because people violated safety norms during the festival.

As many as 261 new Covid-19 cases and 141 recoveries reported in Chandigarh in the last 24 hours. Total positive cases reach 3,985 including 2,248 recoveries and 45 deaths. The number of active cases stands at 1,692, said Chandigarh administration.

Tamil Nadu reports 6,352 new Covid-19 cases and 87 deaths, taking total number of cases to 4,15,590 including 52,726 active, 7,137 deaths and 3,55,727 discharges. New Covid cases recorded in Chennai are 1,285, taking total cases to 1,33,173 including 13,653 active, says state health department.

Puducherry PCC president A V Subramanian tested positive for Covid-19 on Saturday and has been advised home quarantine, health department sources said.

Director of Health and Family Welfare S Mohan Kumar told PTI that samples collected from Subramanian had tested positive.

Subramanian, the former Speaker of the Puducherry assembly, has been placed under home quarantine.
