Countries around the world raced to develop a vaccine for coronavirus (Covid-19) as the pandemic continues to rage. India reported 75,760 new cases of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) and 1,023 deaths in the last 24 hours, pushing the tally to 3,310,234, according to the Union health ministry's dashboard. Globally, India is the third worst-hit nation from the pandemic. India may overtake Brazil sometime in the next two weeks if the cases continue to grow at the same pace.

655 new cases of Covid-19 in J&K
Jammu and Kashmir's total number of Covid-19 infection reached 35,135 on Thursday after recording 655 new cases. The death toll stood at 671, state heatlh department said.

Andhra Pradesh's Covid-19 toll reached 3,633 after registering 92 fresh fatalities on Thursday. With 10,621 fresh cases of infection, the number state tally rose to 3,93,090, state health department said.

The number of Covid-19 recoveries has surpassed 25 lakh in the country while the case fatality rate has further declined to 1.83 per cent, the Union health ministry said on Thursday.

Uttar Pradesh on Thursday reported 76 Covid-19 fatalities, taking the death toll due to the disease to 3,217, while 5,463 new cases pushed the infection tally to 2,08,419.
There are 52,309 active cases in the state, while a total of 1,52,893 people have been discharged after recovering from the infection, Additional Chief Secretary (Information) Awanish Kumar Awasthi said.

This year's carbon emissions to fall by around 8%
Due to the Covid-19 lockdown across India, this year's carbon emissions are predicted to fall by around eight per cent, PTI reported senior environment ministry official saying.

The new rules will apply nationwide and include a minimum fine of 50 euros for not wearing masks and limiting gatherings to 25 people.
