Countries around the world raced to develop a vaccine for coronavirus (Covid-19) as the pandemic continues to rage. India reported 75,760 new cases of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) and 1,023 deaths in the last 24 hours, pushing the tally to 3,310,234, according to the Union health ministry's dashboard. Globally, India is the third worst-hit nation from the pandemic. India may overtake Brazil sometime in the next two weeks if the cases continue to grow at the same pace.

Ten deaths and 1,365 new cases were reported in Jharkhand on Thursday. The total number of cases has now risen to 34,676 including 23,119 recovered cases, 11,180 active cases and 377 deaths, state government.
US Covid-19 deaths exceed 180,000
US deaths from the novel coronavirus topped 180,000 on Thursday after a surge of new cases in June and July, particularly in hotspots like California, Florida, and Texas.
There are signs of an improving outlook. Last week, deaths fell 17% from the prior week and below an average of 1,000 a day for the first time in weeks, reports Reuters.

The tally of coronavirus cases in Mumbai's Dharavi area rose to 2,740 on Thursday with three new patients coming to light, said an official of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation.
Of 2,740 Covid-19 patients recorded in the slum- dominated area, 2,383 have already recovered, he said.
