Even as India continues to grapple with the rising number of Covid-19 cases, the recoveries from the disease surged past to 2.22 million. The country's Covid-19 tally on Saturday night crossed the 3 million-mark, just 16 days after it crossed the 2 million-mark, data from states and union territories showed. Globally, India is the third worst-hit nation from the pandemic.
India may overtake Brazil sometime in the next two weeks if the cases continue to grow at the same pace.

Meanwhile, the global coronavirus tally has gone up to 22,864,873, with the highest number of cases (5,621,035) reported from the United States followed by Brazil (3,532,330), according to Johns Hopkins University’s tally. The deadly infection has so far claimed 797,871 lives worldwide.

Singapore reports 50 new Covid-19 cases; tally reaches 56,266
Singapore on Saturday reported 50 new Covid-19 cases, including five imported infections, taking the national tally to 56,266, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said. The five imported cases have been placed under stay-home notices upon their arrival in Singapore, reports PTI.
Indonesia reports 2,090 new coronavirus cases
Indonesia reported 2,090 new coronavirus cases on Saturday taking the total tally to 151,498, according to the the country's health ministry dashboard.
The number of new deaths reported on Saturday was 94 deaths, taking the total to 6,594, the highest coronavirus death toll in Southeast Asia.
Telangana's Covid-19 tally crosses one lakh
The total coronavirus caseload in Telangana crossed the one lakh-mark with 2,474 fresh cases, health officials said on Saturday.
With seven more people dying of the infection, the toll in the state has gone up to 744.

Venezuela proposes assistance in testing Covid-19 vaccine to Russia
Venezuela has offered to assist Russia, China and Cuba in producing Covid-19 vaccines, officials said.
"We have already established communication and voiced our readiness to ... provide our platform for producing the vaccine ... in the talks with China, Russia as well as are discussing the issue with Cuba," vice president Delcy Rodriguez was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
