Countries around the world raced to develop a vaccine for coronavirus (Covid-19) as the pandemic continues to rage. Worldwide there are more than 22 million coronavirus cases, while 797,117 people have succumbed to the disease, according to figures published by worldometer.

India saw another huge spike in the number of new coronavirus disease cases in the last 24 hours. According to Union health ministry update, the country recorded 68,898 fresh cases which pushed the tally to above 2.9 million.

Another 1,182 people tested positive for the novel coronavirus in the United Kingdom over the last 24 hours, taking the total number of infections to 322,280, the Department of Health Social Care reported on Thursday.
