Countries around the world raced to develop a vaccine for coronavirus (Covid-19) as the pandemic continues to rage. Worldwide there are more than 22 million coronavirus cases. While over 788,000 people have succumbed to the disease, according to figures published by John Hopkins University.

India recorded 64,531 new Covid-19 cases and 1,092 deaths in last 24 hours, data published by the union health ministry showed.

Meanwhile, South Korea's Green Cross Corp has received regulatory approval for phase II human clinical trials of its experimental coronavirus plasma treatment drug, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety said. Argentina has confirmed 6,693 new cases of the coronavirus across the country within the past 24 hours, with the total number of people infected with Covid-19 having reached 312,659, the national Ministry of Health said.

The death toll has increased by 283 to 6,630 people within the same period of time.

Average daily cases fall in Africa

In hopeful sign for Africa, average daily cases of Covid-19 fell last week, the head of the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) said Thursday.
