The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Monday said the number of deaths due to the new coronavirus had risen by 654 to 169,350 and reported 5,382,125 cases, an increase of 41,893 cases from its previous count, reports Reuters.

A decision on whether hotels, gymnasium and weekly markets should be allowed to reopen in Delhi is likely to be taken at a meeting of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority on Tuesday, reports PTI quoting officials.

West Bengal's Covid19 tally rose to 1,19,578 with the highest single-day spike of 3,080 new cases on Monday, as per an official bulletin, reports PTI.

The toll increased to 2,473 as 45 more people died, the bulletin issued by the Health Department said.

The death toll has gone up to 20,265 with 228 fatalities reported in the same period. According to the state health department, 11, 391 people recovered from the virus infection on Monday, taking the total recoveries to 428,514 while the total number of those tested till date is 32,06,248.

Two people were arrested and challans issued to owners of more than 2,200 vehicles across Noida and Greater Noida on Monday for allegedly violating curbs imposed due to the Covid-19 outbreak, Gautam Buddh Nagar police said.
