India’s coronavirus tally on Saturday crossed 2.52 million after 65,002 cases and 996 deaths were registered in the last 24 hours. The total number of active cases have now reached 6,68,220 while the recoveries crossed 1.8 million. The death toll now stands at 49,036.
India is constantly working towards increasing the number of Covid-19 tests conducted on a daily basis. As per the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), over 2.8 crore tests have been conducted so far. There are over 1,400 labs which are equipped to carry out testing across the country. Delhi, which has seen a reduction in its daily Covid-19 tally, has reduced the number of tests conducted per day. The state government attributed this dip in daily testing to public holidays and weather conditions.

In the United States, the American Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in its recent advisory said that those recovered from Covid-19 need not quarantine or get tested again for up to three months as long as the symptoms don’t develop again, the advisory said. With more than 5.4 million Covid-19 cases in total, United States still continues to remain worst hit from the pandemic.
Mizoram reports highest single-day spike in Covid-19 cases
Mizoram reported its highest single-day spike of 64 Covid-19 cases on Sunday, pushing the tally to 777, an official said. The figure also includes 40 security personnel.
With just 4 in a day, China's local Covid-19 cases fall
The number of locally transmitted cases of Covid-19 dropped to four on Aug. 15 in China. All of these were reported in Xinjiang, according to the National Health Commission statement. That compares with eight cases nationwide a day earlier and is the lowest since July 16.

Maharashtra's coronavirus case tally increased to 5,84,754 on Saturday with the addition of 12,614 new cases, the state health department said.
With 322 Covid-19 patients dying during the day, the death toll due to the pandemic rose to 19,749, the department said.
Bihar becomes 8th state to have Covid-19 tally of over one lakh
Bihar on Saturday became the eighth state in the country to have reported more than one lakh Covid-19 cases, marking a 10-fold rise in its tally within a period of a month and a half.
The state's Covid-19 death toll rose to 515 after 15 people succumbed to the disease, a bulletin issued by the department said.
Sikkim reports 68 fresh Covid-19 cases
Sikkim on Saturday reported 68 new Covid-19 cases, taking the Himalayan state's tally to 1,148, an official said.
Director General (DG)-cum-Secretary, Health, Dr Pempa T Bhutia said that South Sikkim reported 41 positive cases and East Sikkim 27 cases.
Delhi records 1,276 new coronavirus cases

The total number of coronavirus patients in the state rose to 6,952 with 164 new cases reported on Saturday, while the toll climbed to 50, reports PTI.
