India on Wednesday recorded nearly 61,000 cases and 834 deaths due to Covid-19. The country's tally is over 2.3 million and the death toll stands at 46,091. The gap between recovered and active cases is more than 943,000.
Delhi, which has achieved a recovery rate of more than 90% recorded just over 1,200 Covid-19 cases and eight deaths on Tuesday. This was the first time in over two months that the number of deaths per day dropped below 10 in the national capital.
Bihar, which continues to remain one of the worst-affected states has registered more than 86,000 cases so far. The Centre has asked the state to ramp up its testing capacity. Private hospitals in Bihar are under the scanner for charging exorbitant charges for treating coronavirus patients.

New Zealand, after a period of more than 100 days reported locally transmitted infections. The island nation has put its largest city Auckland under lockdown. Auckland will move to level 3 on the country's coronavirus alert system while the rest of the regions will be placed under level 2 restrictions.

Puducherry on Wednesday recorded 481 new cases, 138 recoveries and five deaths due to the novel coronavirus. The total number of cases in the union territory have reached 6,381 while the death toll stands at 96, reports ANI.

Rajasthan's Covid-19 tally crosses 55,000-mark
The total number of cases in Rajasthan crossed 55,000 after 595 more people tested positive for the infection. The active cases have reached 14,103 while the death stands at 821. Nearly 38,000 people have recovered in the state, reports ANI.
Odisha's Covid-19 tally crosses 50,000; death toll at 305
1,876 more people tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Odisha, taking the total number of cases in the state to 50,672. The death toll is at 305 whereas nearly 35,000 have recovered from the infection so far, reports ANI.

1,897 more people tested positive for Covid-19 in Telangana, taking the total number of cases in the state to 84,544 which includes 22,596 active cases, 61,294 recoveries and 654 deaths so far, the states's Director of Public Health and Family Welfare said, reports ANI.

Ex-Prez Pranab Mukerjee’s daughter shares a prayer for her father
Former President Pranab Mukherjee, who is admitted to an army hospital in Delhi, has not shown any improvement in his health post the surgery, said the hospital treating him on Tuesday, adding that his condition has “worsened” and he remains “critical” and on life support. Mukherjee's daughter, Sharmistha shared a heartfelt tweet praying for her father.
