Highlights: Gujarat’s Covid-19 tally nearing 69,000; death toll at 2,606

Meghalaya's Covid-19 tally crossed the 1,000 mark as 13 more people tested positive for coronavirus, officials said on Friday.

The fresh cases pushed the state's Covid-19 tally to 1,003 and the number of active cases to 587.

Serum Institute of India (SII) entered into a new landmark partnership with Gavi, The Vaccine Alliance and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, to accelerate the manufacture and delivery of up to 100 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines for India and low-income countries, the drug manufacturer announced on Friday.

Six deaths and 422 new Covid-19 cases were reported in Rajasthan on Friday, according to a bulletin by the State Health Department.

The health bulletin said that the total number of 49,418 people have tested positive for coronavirus in the state so far, while 16,51,221 samples have been tested.

Of the six deaths, two each were reported from Bharatpur and Nagaur district and one each was reported from Alwar and Dholpur, reports ANI.

Himachal Pradesh's Covid-19 case tally is now at 3,061 including 1,124 active cases, 1897 recovered and 12 deaths, said state health department.

In highest single-day spike, Odisha registered 1,833 cases of Covid-19 on Friday, taking the state tally to 42,550. While 12 other people lost their lives pushing the death toll to 247, a health official said.

Tripura registers highest single-day spike in Covid-19 deaths as six patients succumb to infection. While 128 new infections were detected which pushed the tally to 5,743. state health department said.

Pakistan's coronavirus tally reached 282,645 with the detection of 782 new cases in the last 24 hours, the health ministry said on Friday.

Seven more fatalities were also reported overnight, pushing the death toll to 6,052, it said.

As many as 2,207 new cases of Covid-19 were reported in Telangana in the last 24 hours. While 12 others succumbed to the disease, the state health department said.

The United States recorded has over 160,000 deaths due to coronavirus till now, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University.

With 4,881,974 positive cases, the US continues to be the worst-affected country followed by Brazil.

Liquor shops in Delhi to remain open for one more hour, as per the latest order by Delhi government on Friday. The shops will now remain open from 10 am to 10 pm instead of 10 am to 9 pm.

An official said the move will also help increase the government's revenue.

Active Covid-19 cases in India now stands at 6,07,384 while 13,78,105 people have recovered so far, says Health ministry

India's Covid-19 tally surpassed two million mark on Friday after recording over 62,500 cases within 24 hours. While 886 others lost their lives to the viral disease in the same period. The toll now stands at 41,000.

Nearly 300,000 Americans could be dead from Covid-19 by Dec. 1, University of Washington health experts forecast on Thursday, although they said 70,000 lives could be saved if people were scrupulous about wearing masks.

As many as 5,74,783 samples were tested for Covid-19 on Thursday in India, Indian Council of Medical Research said.

So far, the country has tested 2,27,24,134 samples for Covid-19.

A total of 179 Indian nationals arrived from the United Arab Emirates on Thursday, said the Chandigarh International Airport Limited (CHIAL).
