As India enters day-15 of nationwide lockdown over the coronavirus crisis, the number of people infected with the virus in the country has gone up to 5,274, according to the union ministry of health. As many as 149 people have lost their lives due to the virus in India. Global cases of Covid-19 are about to reach 1.5 million with death toll crossing 80,000. Wuhan, the city which was the epicenter of the pandemic, is seeing life staggering back towards normalcy as Hubei slowly lifts its 11-week lockdown. US has recorded more than 200 new deaths as 4 lakh people continue to be infected by Covid-19.

UP Cabinet cuts salaries of ministers, legislators by 30%

The Uttar Pradesh cabinet on Wednesday decided to cut the salaries of ministers, including the chief minister, and legislators by 30% and suspend the Vidhayak Nidhi for one year as part of measures to provide funds to fight the coronavirus pandemic. This amount will be transferred to UP Covid Care Fund.

Bihar announces 15% salary cut for legislators

In the wake of Covid-19 pandemic sweeping across the country, Bihar cabinet on Wednesday announced a pay cut of 15% for all ministers and legislators.

In doing so, Bihar joined states like Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha to announce a salary cut for legislators.

“The cabinet has decided a 15% cut in basic salary of the legislators for one year. The money saved will be deposited in Corona Eradication Fund created for the purpose,” said Deepak Prasad, principal secretary, cabinet secretariat.
