The global tally of people infected by Covid-19 has crossed 2.5 million. As restrictions are being eased, major economies are finding it hard to mitigate the losses caused by the pandemic. US has suspended immigration for 2 months to save jobs as US' economy was badly hit due to coronavirus. In India, 20,471 people have been infected, with 640 people dead. More than 1,353 cases have been registered over the last 24 hours along with 50 deaths. Energy markets went up initially due to surge in Asian markets, but prices dropped by 12%.

Civil aviation ministry official tests positive for Covid-19
An official from the civil aviation ministry has tested positive for Covid-19. Authorities are taking steps and following the guidelines regarding Covid-19.
Government of Delhi is seized of the matter. They are taking appropriate steps as per the laid protocol for contact tracing and risk profiling.

China's early Covid-19 patients test positive 2 months after recovery
Many patients in China were distraught to find out that they have tested positive two months after recovering. Chinese doctors are baffled at the strange behaviour of Covid-19.
2,186 people in Delhi have Covid-19
The capital reported 75 fresh cases of Covid-19 in the past 24 hours. Delhi health minister Satyendar Jain said, 28% of the patients have recovered.

Netherlands, Colombia call off football seasons
The KNBV (Dutch Football Federation) has cancelled the remainder of the season owing to the coronavirus outbreak. Colombian President Ivan Duque also said that return of Colombian football is not possible due to the pandemic.

'Govt is with you': Home minister to doctors
Health minister Dr Harsh Vardhan and Home minister Amit Shah has requested doctors to not hold symbolic protests and assured that government is fully supporting them. This comes after doctors questioned their security after incidents were reported of attacks on healthcare workers.

A cop posted on duty at Maharashtra CM's residence, the Varsha, has tested positive for Covid-19. Mumbai police informed that the cop's close contacts have been quarantined.

Purnima Maur, resident of a village in West Midnapore district of Bengal, received her Tenofovir Disproxil Fumarate tablets thanks to West Bengal Radio Club members. Souparna Sen, member of the Radio Club, travelled 150 km to ensure Maur receives her medicines on time.

Centre will bring back stranded Indian seafarers
After MoS Defence Shripad Y Naik met union minister S Jaishankar it was decided that Indian seafarers stranded across the globe will be brought back home.
"As per Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) Standard Operating Procedure (SoP) for sign-in and sign-off of Indian Seafarers at Indian Ports and their movement issued on April 21 late night all the Indian Seafarers including Goan brothers on various cruise boats/liners etc around Indian shores will be brought onshore or join a vessel with all due care," said Naik in a statement.
West Bengal assures full cooperation to MHA
West Bengal chief secretary wrote a letter to the MHA where it assured full support to the IMCT teams. West Bengal and Centre have been at loggerheads regarding the deployment of IMCT teams.
