Arunachal Pradesh’s Covid-19 tally climbs to 4,574; death toll at 8

The coronavirus death toll in Uttar Pradesh rose to 3,691 on Thursday with 75 more fatalities, while 5,662 fresh cases pushed the state's infection tally to 2,47,101, officials said. There are 57,598 active cases in the state, while 1,85,812 patients have been discharged after recovering from the infection, Additional Chief Secretary, Medical and Health, Amit Mohan Prasad said, reports PTI.

Bihar on Wednesday registered 1,922 new Covid-19 cases which have pushed the state's tally to over 140,000. The active cases now stand at 18,029 whereas nearly 124,000 people have recovered from the infection, says ANI.

Looking at the rise in the number of active Covid-19 cases and deaths in Delhi, we're engaging with Delhi Government. We have given some specific instructions to the govt, if those are followed, no. of cases can be brought under control, Rajesh Bhushan, secretary, union health ministry said.

Rajesh Bhushan also mentioned that per million Covid-19 cases in India is much lesser when compared to other countries in the world. Deaths per million (population) of India is also among the lowest in the world; 49 deaths per million population, he added.

Union health ministry secretary Rajesh Bhushan said Maharashtra has seen around 7% decline in coronavirus active cases in the last three weeks, reports ANI.

There is an increase in the case fatality trajectory in two states - Karnataka and Delhi. Delhi has seen 50% and Karnataka has seen 9.6% increase in average daily case fatality, Rajesh Bhushan, Secretary, union health ministry said.

The union health ministry during a press briefing this afternoon said that the number of recovered cases is now more than 29.70 lakh which is 3.5 times more than active cases.

Five states- Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra account for 62% of total active cases in the country, says health ministry.

Metro officials of DMRC at Rajiv Chowk metro station have started preparations as Delhi Metro gears up for relaunch on September 7.
