Protesters are gathering at various spots including India Gate, Jama Masjid, Delhi Gate and Jamia Millia Islamia, where students and residents have been protesting continuously for nearly a week. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has shut the gates of 16 metro stations in wake of the protests.

7 injured in firing during protest in UP's Kanpur
At least seven people were injured in police firing in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur on Friday, sources in a government hospital said, as protests against the citizenship act turned violent with thousands taking to the streets in many areas of the state.

Everybody, including students, are welcome to give their suggestions on CAA as we are yet to formulate the implementation rules, an MHA official said.
Anyone who was born before 1987 or whose parents were born before 1987 are bonafied Indian citizens: Govt official
Anyone who was born before 1987 or whose parents were born before 1987 are bonafied Indian citizens as per the law and no need to worry due to the Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019 (CAA), a top government official said.
As per the 2004 amendments of the Citizenship Act, those citizens will be Indian citizens if one of the parents is an Indian citizen and neither of the parent is an illegal immigrants, he added.
The clarification came amidst the protests against the CAA and the misinformation being circulated in the social media about the recently enacted law.
Reports of violent protests pour in from UP
Reports of violent protests are pouring in from many areas of UP, including Bulandshahr and Meerut. In protest happening at Babupurwa --between Bakarganj and Idgah, the protesters torched four police vehicles and police fired 25 rounds. Four police personnel, including SP (South) Aparna Gupta, have been injured in stone pelting by the crowd. Police also fired tear gas shells on the crowd.
