UP CM said he would sell the properties of the agitators who involved in arson and vandalism and use it to reimburse the losses, he said he will identify the perpetrators through the CCTV footage. He said, he will exact revenge on the perpetrators.

Several teachers of the Aligarh Muslim University held silent march opposing the Citizens (Amendment) Act on Thursday, days after the institute witnessed police crackdown against its students who were agitating against the new legislation.

The protestors, including a large number of women teachers, marched from the AMU Teachers Club to the Purani Chungi crossing and circled the campus.

Violent protests broke out in Lucknow against the new citizenship law on Thursday afternoon when a mob pelted stones and torched vehicles parked outside a police post.

DGP O.P Singh said police had to fire tear-gas shells to control the situation in Madeyganj area.

About 20 people have been taken into custody, he added.

Nineteen IndiGo flights were cancelled and 16 others were delayed as crew members were stuck in traffic jam at NH-8 due to anti-CAA protests on Thursday, a Delhi airport official said.

Three airlines - Vistara, Air India and IndiGo - announced that their passengers, who are stuck in traffic due to anti-CAA protests at various parts of Delhi, will be adjusted in subsequent flights.

The Delhi Metro shut the entry and exit gates at 20 stations across the city on Thursday on the instructions of the Delhi Police as protests against the Citizenship (Amendement) Act, or CAA, in parts of central and Old Delhi.
