India vs West Indies Highlights: Shardul fires India to thrilling win

IND vs WI 3rd ODI: Shardul Thakur 17 off 6 balls as he fired India to a four wicket-win. Things turned tense after Virat Kohli was dismissed for 85. He had to walk back for 85. India had got off to a good start with KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma scoring fifties each. But the middle-order batsmen Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant and Kedar Jadhav all were dismissed in quick succession, which turned the match. With the match win, India have sealed the series 2-1.

2 boundaries

2 boundaries for West Indies and both coming from Shai Hope's bat. Outstanding strokeplay from the opener. The first one was a straight drive down the ground and when Shami tried to bang in it short, Hope rocked back on to the backfoot to pull it behind square. West Indies 16/0 after 4 overs.

3 from Thakur's 2nd

Another disciplined over from Shardul Thakur, only three runs from it. This has been a very good start from the Indian new ball bowlers after captain Virat Kohli opted to bowl first.

01:39 PM IST

Maiden from Shami

Shami follows Thakur's over with an even better one, a maiden. He was spot on with his line and lengths, no room whatsoever to the left-handed Lewis and he even surprised him with a well-directed bouncer.

Good start from Thakur

A good first over from Shardul Thakur. The most encouraging part was, he got the new ball to shape away from the right-hander, tight from Hope too. West Indies 1/0 after 1 over.

01:33 PM IST

First runs

Evin Lewis off the mark and so are West Indies. Not in the most convincing manners though. Thakur gets one to slightly come back in to Lewis, the left-hander gets a thick inside edge to fine leg.

Players out in the middle

West Indies openers Shai Hope and Evin Lewis are out there. It will be interesting to see if India stick to their plan of bowling in-swingers to Hope.

It will be Shardul Thakur with the new ball for India.

'Not sure about the pitch,' Pollard

Kieron Pollard at toss: I'm not exactly sure about how the pitch would behave. It's a matter of assessing the pitch and playing good cricket. The batting has been fantastic, we have faltered at the back end of the innings when we bowl, we have stressed on the things we need to improve. Happy faces and everybody want to improve. Hopefully, the openers will set-up a good platform for the others to take it forward.

'Dew will be a factor,' says Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli at toss: Dew will be a factor, we played a match against England and defending 380 proved to be tough. It's a good opportunity to bowl first on this pitch. The mindset needs to be right, we have won many Tests after losing the toss, the focus should be on the larger picture. Winning toss does give a advantage, but you can't play reckless cricket.

Pitch report

The spinners will like this pitch, there are some cracks and it might open up. It's a little soft underneath, will help the ball to grip and turn. Dew is always a factor here, it will be a consideration for the team winning the toss', reckon Sunil Gavaskar and Murali Kartik, in the pitch report.
